Commercial glass and accessory work covers windshield replacement, resin chip repair, mirror and camera monitor systems, step and running board mounting, and fender flare and mud flap fitting on fleet trucks and vans. All of it is performed in the shop, with bonded glass held until the urethane reaches drive away strength.

Glass is the cheapest thing on a commercial unit that can put it out of service. A Santa Ana delivery van with a spreading crack across the driver side of the glass is a unit a dispatcher will not send out, and the replacement cost is a rounding error next to a day of lost route revenue. That is why glass sits in its own work order category rather than being buried inside collision.

The work itself is more technical than most fleet managers expect. A modern bonded windshield is a structural member. It stiffens the cab opening, it backs up the passenger restraint on units that have one, and the bond is only as good as the pinchweld it is laid onto. Cutting corners on primer, bead height, or cure time produces a windshield that looks correct on delivery and leaks, whistles, or separates six months later.

Accessories in this category share one trait with glass: they are the parts that touch curbs, loading docks, and driver boots every single day. Steps get bent, mirror arms get clipped in tight Santa Ana alley approaches, flares crack, and mud flaps tear off in the wash bay. None of it is glamorous work, and all of it is what makes a fleet look maintained rather than abandoned.

Every job in this category happens at the Yorba Linda facility, roughly 17 miles from central Santa Ana and 22 to 35 minutes out via SR-55 north to SR-91 east. Bring the unit in, we do the work under a roof with controlled temperature and correct lighting, and it leaves when the adhesive has actually cured. Call the shop at (714) 909-1844 to get a unit on the board.

## Questions

### How long is my truck down for a windshield?

Plan on one business day for most units. The glass work itself runs two to eight labor hours depending on the cab, and then the urethane needs its cure window before the unit is safe to drive. Class 8 two piece glass and anything requiring camera recalibration sits longer. We tell you the release time when the unit is written up, not after.

### Can you come out to our Santa Ana yard and do the glass there?

No. All glass work is done in the shop. Urethane bonding is sensitive to temperature, humidity, and contamination, and camera recalibration needs a level floor with measured target placement. Parking lot glass work is how you end up with leaks, wind noise, and a camera that reads lane lines two feet off. The unit comes to Yorba Linda.

### Is a chip repairable or do I need the whole windshield?

It depends on size, type, and location. A bullseye under about one inch across, or a star with legs shorter than about two inches, is normally a resin repair. Damage in the driver primary viewing area, damage that has reached the edge of the glass, and any break that has penetrated both plies gets a replacement instead.

### Do you handle the camera calibration or does that go somewhere else?

We handle it here. On any unit with a forward camera bonded to the windshield, the bracket comes off with the old glass and the camera has to be recalibrated against the new mounting position. We pre scan before disassembly, calibrate to the published target layout after the glass is set, and post scan to confirm no faults remain.

### Will insurance cover glass on a commercial policy?

Glass is routinely billed direct to the carrier on commercial auto policies, and windshield replacement and chip repair are two of the most commonly approved lines. Step, board, flare, and flap installs are usually accessory work paid by the fleet unless they are part of a documented collision loss. We will bill whichever way the file is set up.

### Why do my mud flaps keep tearing off?

Almost always the hanger, not the flap. A flap bolted to a bent or undersized hanger sails at highway speed, loads the top bolt row, and rips through the mounting holes. Correct square tube hangers, anti sail brackets on tractor positions, and the right bolt and washer stack solve it permanently for most Santa Ana regional runs.
