How is equipment mounting handled without creating a new problem?

Adding a crane, a compressor, a welder, a rack or a heavy toolbox mid life is normal and it changes how the body carries load. A crane in particular concentrates a reversing bending load into a small footprint, and that is a fatigue condition by definition. The install is designed with that in mind, spreading load into a subframe or across multiple frame points rather than bolting through a body floor.

Where a mount is already cracking, the repair is three steps and skipping any of them guarantees a repeat. The crack is mapped in full rather than at the visible portion, cut back to sound material and rewelded with the correct process, then the load path is changed with a gusset or a larger footprint plate so the new weld is not carrying exactly what the old one failed under.

Racks and guards follow the same logic at a smaller scale. A ladder rack mounted to a body top rail transfers every load into that rail, and on a truck carrying long material that is a real load. What does securement anchorage require on a working deck?

A compartment on my service body has a crack and I never hit anything. Why?

Unexplained cracking on a service body almost always traces to body mounting. My crane mount cracked again after a previous repair. What is different here?

Tie down rings keep pulling out of my flatbed. What am I doing wrong?

The torn area is repaired with new material and the anchorage is re established into a sill, a rub rail or a fabricated member oriented for the actual pull direction.

Is it worth moving my service body onto a newer chassis?

Frequently yes. A sound body outlasts the chassis under it by years, and transferring keeps crews on the compartment layout they already work efficiently in. The job includes subframe modification, new mounting brackets and fresh lighting connections. It is also the cheapest moment to handle compartment floors, underside coating and accessory reinforcement, since the body is off and on stands.

How long will my truck be down?
